eXPerience Presents. Windows TinyXP Christmas 2008 Edition Thank you for trying TinyXP Christmas 2008 Edition. There have been many versions of TinyXP in the past, but none quite like this, because in the past, TinyXP either had a lot of items removed, or it had IE7 and WMP11 added with a lot of items still left in the installation.
The latest Onepiece post SP3 addon was used. This installation also includes the recently released hotfix from 17th December (KB960714). This time, windows is as stripped as possible but it does also include: Internet Explorer 7 Windows Media Player 11 DirectX Updated (including d3dx940.dll) Microsoft Update This is a Christmas gift! A fully updated TinyXP for 2008. To install Windows TinyXP from this CD, set your PC up so it will boot from the CD-ROM in the PC's BIOS.
Once you have booted from the CD, option 1 is the only option you can choose to install Windows XP. This option includes added driverpacks, but if you are there when Windows is installing, after copying files and rebooting for the first time, you will see a command window pop up, you have a 15 second timer, if you press ESC in that time, the pack currently shown on the screen will not extract, this way, you have the option to extract those driverpacks by pressing a numbered key within the 15 seconds - or not extracting the driverpacks, by pressing ESC. If you just leave the installation alone completely, all the driverpacks will extract, by default. You cannot install TinyXP as an 'upgrade' from within Windows. Only install TinyXP onto a freshly formatted partition or hard disk. There is no upgrade option available in TinyXP, because the option is removed.
You do not need any product key in this release - the installation of TinyXP is unattended, once you choose the drive or partition on which to install TinyXP. Installation is set to 'US English'. When you boot from this CD you have six options: 1) Install TinyXP Christmas 2008 Edition 2) Acronis Backup + Restore 3) Windows XP - Live Environment 4) Hiren's BootCD v9.6 5) SpinRite v6.1 (Hard Disk Testing and Repair) 6) Windows Memory Diagnostics (RAM Memory Testing) Help: Option 1 - Installs Windows TinyXP Professional SP3 with all hotfixes to December 2008 - includes optional drivers. Option 2 - Backup Windows, or restore a backup to your current partition. Option 3 - This boots straight into Windows XP so you can explore your drives whilst Windows is not running. Partition Manager.
Option 4 - Tests your hard disk for errors and repairs it, if possible. Option 5 - Checks your computers RAM memory for any errors. Option 6 - Boots into Hiren's Boot CD, includes dozens of rescue tools. The installation of TinyXP includes the following items, which are all automatically installed along with Windows: -All Hotfixes Up To December 2008 (inc. @ eXPerience Can you change the default Admin password in this one? I downloaded a WinXPLite version of your work and it was recommended NOT to change the Admin password. Of course, hind sight is worth gold, and to make a long story short,I ended up within a week, people across the Net bouncing off it as a proxy.
After sniffing out the assholes,I changed the Admin password, disabled all the remote exploit doors that were enabled at installation, and within five days,my PC returned to normal, and the hits to my PC,is down to one persistent asshole. So what gives? I actually liked the slim OS. @ meowing, First off, douche bag, considering the fact that NO changes to any firewall rules, and ONLY changing the 'unknown' Admin password, and disabling the known Windows exploitable services from the default installation,AND NOW,the strange.cmd file that runs on bootup.is no longer loading, plus I no longer have 75% CPU usage at idle, and no longer have HTTP proxy hits. Trust me,I re-installed this OS,and I am getting the HTTP hits all over again,on a clean install, and the PC at idle on my end. I do not blame anyone,if you can read my comment, about intrusions, intrusion attempts,or hacked registries.
I asked a simple question, which any moron can see and read, and my inquiry was if the OS,may have holes, since the default method is to run as ADMIN user. After all,it is 'hacked',and something may have been over-looked.
What douche bag, runs ADMIN anyway. This is not my first eXPerience edition install,my friend. I run MicroXP on a laptop, and I still have the 2003 Server Edition. This ONLY pertains to the version in question. Understand NOW,douche bag? Or do you need pictures?
That I do believe, because you definitely can't read plain English. @meowwing Your acumen is amazing and astute. The level of information you gave,on a level of 1 to 10,I give it a 0.1. I disabled auto-logon my my friend. To draw you pictures, when this version of XP was posted,it was 'recommended',NOT to change the ADMIN user account password. WHO KNOWS,what that password could be,other than the hacker who posted it.
I'm fine with that,as it needs to boot to the desktop. The next smartest thing to do,is CHANGE the default password, from 'whatever',and create a user. 'Why suggest never changing it?' If remote access or Terminal services are enabled, the OS sends a multicast beacon to signal its on-line,and the recipient KNOWS the unknown password, what do you think? This is not uncommon,in the network world. I do not remember IF this was an 'official' eXPerience upload. I did not install right away.
I have used his stuff in the past, with no problems. I find it suspect,as you would,if someone suggested not to change the ADMIN password.
What good is the OS,if this was always the case. If I can configure his other OS's to my liking, why not this one? All I asked WAS,'Can I change the default ADMIN password in the official so-called 'eXPerience WinXP Lite. Do you get the picture now? I have used TinyXP platinum edition 2 in the past and thought it was great! I have since lost the disk that I had it burnt to and thought I would give the Christmas edition a go. Unfortunately I get a blue screen of death after choosing option 1, the installer has loaded the initial set of drivers etc.
And before I am asked where I would like to install to etc. I have a dell xps 710 which has a nvidia nforce 590 motherboard with a raid0 disk as its primary. I get the same behavior when trying to install tinyxp rev09. Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Many thanks for your help and for the continued effort in these tinyXP releases. @ntoskml The 'tweaks' file loads under ADMIN user, but fails on any other user I created.
I'm fine with that,it still runs as ADMIN user, and that is really the end of the story. It's ailments have been fixed. As to Hellrace, who gives a flying fuck whether any one uploads or not. Your opinion is really worthless,as you are just a goofy dweeb, who wants to chime in about nothing, and had nothing to add. You're the worse kind of offender.
In retrospective, running these 'hacked' OS's,whether good or bad, doesn't' offer that much benefit to me,to even bother with. The following components are kept in this edition of Windows XP. The following components are removed from this edition of Windows XP. If you 'need' any of these components, do not use this version of Windows. I can't thank you enought for those beautiful releases. Ablsolutely love them. So far I have used rev 0.9 and I'm currently testing latest micro2003 in vmware.
I use them with bb4win and they have changed completely my windows experience. The live option has also saved my ass quite a few times as I use to experiment with different oses especialy linux (but always end up returning to your windows because I need to run specific apps).
Anyway, I have just one request, can we please have tiny/micro cluster server too? Or is there a way I can add clustering functionaliuty to micro2003? Again thanks a lot for your releases, I love you ^^.
